Christian Siriano Spring 2010 Fashion Show, NY: RunwayChristian Siriano has made a name for himself in the fashion world and, though a fine start, it extends beyond his victory on the television show “Project Runway.” He proved his longevity as a designer and couturier of the stars at his fashion show in New York’s Bryant Park on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Taking advantage of the versatility of a nearly nude tone called blush, Siriano began his show demonstrating his artistic nature using silk, organza and chiffon to texturize, gather, pleat and drape. “I wanted the collection to be beautiful, glamorous, elegant – a show,” Siriano said backstage.

The idea of traveling to the Almafi Coast and Southern Italy was the concept behind the spring 2010 ready-to-wear show, Siriano explained, where prints on gowns and singular pieces were a modified aerial picture of the Italian coast line. Power suits paired with oversized brimmed hats in metallic linen glistened like the sea on the horizon.

The finale brought gasps from the audience as three stunning gowns were flaunted down the runway. Most notable was a chiffon and tulle strapless ombre gown in blush and volcanic, followed by its extending train. After the show actress Mena Suvari admitted this design was her pick of the litter as she took out her cell phone with its picture, “I loved all the gowns, but that one was my favorite. It was amazing.”
