The MTV Europe Music Awards may have been held in our very own Liverpool but it was the American stars that walked away with the trophies. Britney Spears scooped Best Album for Blackout and Act of 2008, while Pink won Most Addictive Track for So What. There were several references to the US election last night with Katy Perry, who hosted the ceremony and won the Best New Act Award, commenting: “Maybe Europe will love us again now.” Jared Leto, whose band 30 Seconds to Mars, picked up two gongs, shouted to the audience: “Liverpool, let’s hear it for Barack Obama.” SOURCE: BBC
