I moved and some of my stuff is missing…?
I had to move from my last place suddenly and someone else moved my stuff for me into storage. ( A family friend .. and I’m not sure who else, I just know she had help). They then moved it into my new place. I have now unpacked my stuff and quite a few things are missing a several are broken. And most of the items that are missing are not small. at all. here is the list I have :
MISSING:
Recliner ( a leather one for that matter)
Vacuum ( an upright pink one that WAS in my old bedroom)
Microwave
Swiffer wet jet
a box of movies ( BIG box and some of those movies I have had since I was a kid)
my case of dvds ( probably 20 dvds in there, worth $400) plus a few dvds that weren’t in the case
a basket of magazines that i was saving because I was going to cut some recipes out of. ( my mother painted the basket when I was a little girl and she died 9 months ago tomorrow)
One crucifix of mine that was given to me by my dad
my bathroom rugs
My nintendo game cube and almost all the games
My N64 and all the games for that
BROKEN:
A holder for my shelf that goes in my room
2 puzzles that I have had since I was a kid ( then kind that have a hard board that you put the pieces in.. they were about 150 pieces each)
A glass candle holder
So all in all over $1000 worth of stuff is missing. They are asking $840 in fees.
I asked the person who moved my stuff and she claims to not know what happened to it, and that everything was taken from my old place. She left my shower curtain behind claiming it was unusable. BULL. The curtain was fine it was the liner that needed replacing. She also said that the electronic stuff she kept at her house and she would look and see if she had any of it but now she says she doesn’t. I smell bull… crap because the game cube was hooked up to the TV in my bedroom when I left and was on the floor in front of my dresser in my room. I have the TV and the Dresser, they had to have touched it to move the TV!! The games were in a box on top of a stack of rubbermaid totes of mine so they had to have moved that too in order to get the totes out and I have the totes! Also, the vaccum was in my room between my bed and the computer desk and both of those are at my new place too!!
So with all of that, do I make a claim with the cops, like take her to court? I am very angry that these things are missing. I’m not sure what I do if I take this to the cops.. do I report it stolen or just missing or what exactly do I say??
