Take them to court? I just bought a CHANEL handbag from the CHANEL store and it was a used bag?13 replies

first of all I was debating on buying it because CHANELS are so darn expensive. My man wanted me to have it so he wanted me to have it for my Christmas present. I bought it for $2,300.00 from the Official CHANEL store here in Summer Set in Michigan from Sacks Fifth Avenue. I go hame so excited and in love with my jumbo tote bag, even though I felt something was off, the color was bothering me, but I kinda ignored it. Then I put it on the stairs before I went up to my room and the bag hit the wall and I saw a marker smear kinda looking thing on the wall, I said no, this can’t be from the bag, it probably was on the wall, then I intentinally rubbed it against the wall again and the same thing happened, the colore smeared on the wall again.

I know this bag has been used or it could be a fake and I am so heart broken right now. I don’t know if I should sue them or bring the media in on this or just go exchange it and forget about it. But what about all the other people who are paying their hard earned money to buy a CHANEL hand bag from the CHANEL stores. I did not buy it online, I did not buy it from someone, I did not pay them monopoly money, I did not get it for free or half off or with a discount, I PAYED FULL PRICE WITH TAX AND I’M GONNA END UP PAYING $3,000.00 by the time I finish paying it with interest from my credid card.

What should I do?
Call a Lawyer?
Call the media?
Just exchange it and forget about it?
What?

I bought it on the day right after Thanks Giving, 2 days ago and I do have the all the tags and stuffing things and never went out with it.

I am not in debt, I just simply said, all together it will end up costing 3 grand. That is a lot of money and wouldn’t you expect to get what you payed for? Call me an idiot all you want. You don’t know me and what I do and what I can afford?

Like someone said, a Chanel is an investment, I can sell it on ebay after 10, 20, 30 or what ever years and get my money back, because most Chanels are classics and mine is
I will go and exchange it and write Chanel and Saks.

I needed good advice and for those who are intellegent gave it and I Thank You.

For those who are judging me, have no clue what you are talking about because you are not in my shoes and it’s not your money.

P.S Think about it, no matter how much amount of money you spend, you expect what you payed for? <<< I do help the unfortunate people before I help myself to anything.

Help with my time
help with my money
help with my doing
help with my words
and most of all I help with my PRAYERS!!!!

you shouldn’t talk about how you help others, but since I am being judged,,,, oh well, why should I care I only care about what HE thinks.

your making way too big of a deal out of this.
just return it and get another one.

    its just a purse.
no need to get the media involved.

Exchange it or return it if you don’t care for the style anymore.

You are an idiot for buying a bag for $3000.

And now you want to broadcast what an idiot you are by contacting the media? Please, by all means! Shout it out to the world! That way you can be laughed at by more than just me.

The funniest part was that line about your BF “wanting” you to have it. Please! (Maybe you’re just that dumb, maybe he knows it, and if he can get in your pants by making YOU pay for the purse, maybe he has a good thing going.)

Either way, you’re full of yourself. If I ever found out that my girl bought ANYTHING for herself for more than a few hundred, I’d dump her on her fat butt and never look back. Women with no values are ugly. You could have fed 900 people with that money, you moron.

Just go exchange it and be done with it. What’s the point of spending a bunch of money on a lawyer, or even trying to get the media involved. Who cares?? Just exchange it and get over yourself.

report it. they should send u a brand new bag with no charge and they might send something else also to express that they are sorry. The same thing happens to me sometimes. i buy something new and it breaks, etc. and they replace it.

Ok, two things here. First, you should call the manager at Saks and exchange the bag. Second, why on earth would you charge a bag if you can’t pay if off before the card comes in? That is insane. If I were you I’d return the bag and save up my money until I could afford to pay for the bag. Anyone who goes in debt for a bag is not using their brain!

Yeah…I’m sure the MEDIA will jump all over that! Give me a break lady, just take the piece of crap back to the store and go to Macy’s and find yourself a real bargain.

Your best bet is to return it (making sure you have your bill) and showing them the problem. Explain to them how you believe its an outrage that you could be sold such a defective bag at such a well-regarded shopping institution. Also tell them you’re going to (and subsequently proceed to) write letters to both Chanel’s Head Office and Saks Head Office, explaining the situation.

You’ll get an exchange and more, guaranteed. Suing them is a bit excessive, as is going to the media.

    1) Big companies, big lawyers, not worth the hassle over a bag, as you’ll get what you want in the end anyhow.

    2) The media won’t care.

All you need to do is what the rest of the population does when they’re unhappy with a product, return it.

When you return it, since it was so expensive, they’ll be very curious why you’re returning it, and this will give you the chance to let them know you were unhappy with the integrity of the bag (it smears, etc.)

Maybe they’ll have an explanation for the smudging, maybe they wont. Either way, you’ll be able to return the bag, get your money back, and either buy another bag from that store or go elsewhere and get a bag you’re happy with.

If you’re going to spend $3,000, you HAVE TO be happy with the product. Return that thing. Don’t contact the media UNLESS they wont let you return it, or some hoopla like that.

Also, I agree with LiberalAssKicker, if you have that type of money, I hope you’re also spending some of it to do some good in the world. Food pantries are bustling this time of year, donating even $100 worth of food to a food pantry is a blessing for them.

Okay, don’t freak out. Unfortunately especially at a large department store, returns are easily made. Somebody probably bought the bag and returned it. If it is a fake, it is because someone returned a fake bag to saks with a real receipt and kept the real bag, typical scam. The person who returned the bag probably couldn’t spot the fake bag from a real bag, depending on how good of a fake it was. Don’t freak out just take the bag back and explain the problem. Either exchange it or wait for friends and family ehich will at least get you 20% off. Just keep calling the store every week or ask a sales associate to call you when they have friends and family. It is probably just an used bag someone had fun with and returned after a couple of days of use. Saks has a 60 day return policy. Definetely alert them when doing the return so someone else doesnt buy this same bag. If you are spending so much on a bag you should def get the star treatment and get a brand new sparkling one. If still not satisfied get the model # of the bag and order it from the chanel store in New York where I live. A fake or used bag would never be taken back her or sold here. The only way it would be taken back (and not resold) is if the bag had a defect. Good Luck.

    Saks in NY is 212-752-4000
and the Chanel store in NY is (212) 535-5505

Don’t feel bad about spending that on a bag, a chanel bag will last you forever and is a classic no matter which bag, definetely an investment, you can use this bag when you are 80 years old. And you can always sell it on ebay or a consignment store in the future even if used.

I think everyone should stop attacking her, she can do whatever she wants with her $. I personally have bags that are over 15,000 and I also help the needy. She was just asking for advice and I am sure if she got some magazines involved or knew someone at a magazine, the media could be involved. There’s nothing wrong with old navy or Macys but dont judge anyone because they dont go there. :)
