I have a birthday on 5-6 and I really want a cell phone. I recently got a $60 router to get my computer on the web, but it was a present for improving my grades. I got a new pair of tennis shoes, but I really needed those. I like a lot of pink stuff from victoria’s secret like a $15 tote a $44 swimsuit, my old swimsuit is too small, a $22 pair of shorts and a $15 top and I don’t have that many spring/summer clothes. I love pink clothes but I won’t be able to get as many as say old navy or macy’s clearance I haven’t gone shopping with my friends in a while, so I was thinking of asking for a little bit of spending money for clothes and a day of shopping with my friends. Everyone I know has a phone and I even found a different cell phone company (t mobile) which price as my parent’s current cell phone service but we’ll be able to have three lines and 5 my faves for the same monthly rate. I also want some makeup because I don’t have any.
What should I ask for? Help me prioratize? I
have fourty dollars currently and I would really like some new clothes today to wearbecause it’s just starting to warm up outside but I can’t go shopping with my friend? Will I be a total loser if I ask my mom to take me to get a couple outfits and I pay? Should I spend a little of my money on clothes and makeup now and just ask for a cell phone and a little spending money for my birthday and then go shopping with my friends with my birthday money? Should I bear with the clothes from last year for a couple more weeks and then just have a shopping spree? I took my mom shopping yesterday for my tennis shoes and I don’t know how hip she’ll be to going today. She DEFINATLY won’t want to go to the mall again!
I definatly NEED a cell phone, EVERYONE has a cell phone except for me and I need one!

It sounds like your parents are generally pretty generous with you. If you went shopping yesterday, you can stay home today. Wait till closer your birthday to go clothes shopping and then your mom will pitch in and help you buy some things you need. And, you don’t need a cell phone, you want one. And no not everybody has one.
Just cuz everyone has a phone doesn’t mean you need one. you have spent over $150 recently…. I would save up for the phone, you really don’t need the other stuff, if you really want it you have to pick, makeup or clothes….and of course only if your parents are willing, don’t push ‘em for it.
I am a parent and the argument that “everyone else has one” (referring to the cell phone) would kill the deal right there. Your better approach would be to say that because there are so many bad things happening to kids, you sure wish that you had a cell phone so you could get hold of them if you should ever need to. All of my children have cell phones for that very reason and I rest a lot easier knowing that they can call me whenever they feel the necessity.
I think that having a cell phone is not going to make you happy if you are feeling bad about what you are wearing.
So I think your idea to get the clothes now and ask for a cell phone for your birthday is the best one.
My best to you!
