I’m making tote gift bags for my BM’s what should I put in them?8 replies

I am going to give them out at my shower rather then at the rehersal dinner, because we aren’t actually having a rehersal (very simple non religious ceremony; just a walk through the day of); so we may skip the dinner. I want to find super cute totes (maybe something with a monogram or their names) but deffintaly not ones that have “bridemaid” or “maid of honor” on them. I want it to be something they will want to use again. Also in it I think I want to put a cute reusable alluminum water bottle, one of those “bridemaids” tank tops (is it cheaper/easier to make or buy them?), also just some other “emergancy” day stuff. Like travel deoderant, saftey pins, boby pins, hair ties, some of those ballett slipper flats (cheap ones), and then for my MOH I am getting her this super cute necklace from juicy couture. I am looking to spend between 60-75 dollars on the BM’s and about 100 on the MOH. Any ideas of where to get the totes, or if it’s best to make/buy the bridemaids tanks? Or any other cute little things I can throw in?
Well the deoderant and bobby pins werent supposed to be as much on the exciting side as on the helpful side. And all of my BM’s are married so they aren’t wooried about not being the bride; they’ve all done that.

    I would defietly make the tanks, rather than buy them. You would have a better variety of colors and styles to chose from if you do your own. Then find either iron-on transfers of rhinestones to add at a craft store…even walmart.

    Make sure you put in some pampering supplies like boutique lotions or perfumes and such.

    You can order the bags just about anywhere with a monogram on them. So many bridal sites have them available. You could also do those yourself, too though :)

    Hope that helps.

    If I were a bridesmaid, I would want one of those flasks. IDK. I like them, and my girls and I always drink when we get together some. I would want an emergency kit like you said, and something personal. Gift cards or something… like to MAC or her favorite store. I love Sephora.

    I would not want a bridesmaid shirt. That would just remind me that I once again was not the bride.

    The necklace from juicy couture sounds nice, but how about a gift certificate to a spa. You and the new MIL could spend extra time together if she wishes to that is.

    Personally, I like girly things. Sachet for their drawers, a pretty picture frame, disposable camera, potpourri,depending on the size of the tote, padded hangers. Pastel nail polish. I would give everyone a gift certificate for a manicure. They can use it prior to the wedding. It’s just me but, the deodorantand bobby pins wouldn’t be a present that I could get excited about.

    I actually love that idea! I was trying to think of what to do for my bridal party too!
    I would buy plan totes and monogram them yourself. It mihgt be hard to find a tote with everyone’s initial on them. I think buying the tanks are cheaper and less than a headache to make. I live in Toronto and there is a bridal store that offers 20% off wedding accessories (like BM shirts, etc) when you buy another item from the same store. Do some research, it will save you $$.

    I love the idea of the emergency kit, you might want to make one for yourself as well…lol! I would add in, blister care, mini lip gloss or chapstick (depending on the season) and stain remover ( Tide-to-Go). Saved my best friend when red wine was spilt on her wedding dress the day of! You could also include a mani/pedi gift card for everyone for the wedding day! Nice treat.

    Definitly get something special for your MOH. I like the necklace idea. My MOH loves this specific painter so I am getting her a small print of one of his paintings. SHe will love it. Try and personlize something that she is into!

    I would go with something personal to each girl. Each of my BM has a different personality and likes/dislikes so I am going that route, keep it the same but different. Waterbottles are defintiely a good idea, Nalgene sells really nice ones and you can get them personalized through Lands End. Lands End also makes awesome tote bags with monograms and names, they have tons of colors and sizes to choose from so try there:. I’d skip the BM/MOH tank tops, who would ever wear it, especially if there is no rehearsal? Maybe a nice tank for each girl in her favorite color and style instead, or a monogrammed cotton cardigan in case the weather gets chilly? I would personally not want all the “emergency” stuff, it’d get thrown out when I got home. Shoes are a good idea if they are comfortable and fit, you could always get neat flipflops. Frames, candles and lotions are a waste of money unless you KNOW that the girls will use what you buy. I have a million and a half picture frames I’ve accumulated over the years in a box in my closet. I don’t burn candles in my home but they are good for re-gifting. I don’t use lotions on my skin because it’s super sensitive but if I got some Vaseline Creamy or Eucerine I would use it. You just have to be careful that you’re getting gifts they can actually use.

    My girls are getting a monogrammed cotton cardigan that matches the BM dresses (Baja Blue). We are going to my jeweler together to design a pendant for each girl based on her taste. My MoH is getting a parasailing gift certificate, a full spa day and a dinner reservation at a great stak place because she enjoys the beach and I know her favorite spa. BM1 is getting tickets to a monster truck show and an autographed photo of Dwayne Johnson, those are her two favorite things. BM2 is getting concert tickets (not sure what concert yet) and a gift card to a tiki bar that she loves. BM3 is getting theater tickets, dinner and a limo ride there with a babysitter for the night (she is the only one with a kid). I did the same but different for each one and I know they are going to love the gifts!

    Good luck!

    I’m getting my bridesmaids and maid of honor a tote from Oriental Trading…

    Bridesmaid one:=%26%238220%3BBridesmaid%26%238221%3B+Tote+Bag

    Maid of Honor one:=%26%238220%3BMaid+Of+Honor%26%238221%3B+Tote+Bag

    Granted, you did say you didn’t want them to say “Bridesmaid” or anything like that. However, I worked with a lady who used her old “Maid of Honor” tote bag as a lunch bag, and she said she loved it because it made her remember the day.

    I’m also throwing in some steamy romance novels for my Creative Writing major friend. Think about some individual things you can throw in for each one to show that you took their personalities into consideration, too.

    For the totes, go to TheKnot.com, they have small ones for $10 (+ cost of monogram) and larger ones for $16. I ordered the large ones with my BM and MOH’s names on them, in their favorite colors and they look great!
    I think the best presents are those that are personal to each individual. Of course, you want to give them something similar, but I would suggest customizing to each person. For example, this is what we got our bridal party:
    Bridesmaids- I got them all personalized tote bags with their names on them in their favorite color, black pearl stud earrings (those are the same for all), mini manicure sets, monogrammed silver keychains with their initial, and this is where it gets personal: for my writer friend I got a beautiful bound journal, for my chocolate lover friend I got Philosophy Double Hot Cocoa shampoo, body wash, and bubble bath (in one) and for my traveler friend I got a monogrammed passport case.

    I think your practical ideas sound great, just to give you some more ideas, ThingsRemembered.com has some really great stuff for wedding parties, you can get free shipping on orders over $100 and they always have a 20% off discount code you can apply to your order (just google ThingsRemembered coupon code to get it). Also, I would say jewelry is always good, monogrammed mirror compacts or makeup bags, cute underwear for bridesmaids, etc.

    Hope I helped.
    Good luck and congratulations on your wedding!!! =)
