Switch it from 1 day to the next.

this is also the first time using a tote for me, but my friends did last year and they looked fine. if you use a tote bag, just make sure there is never too much in your bag and try to clean it out as often as possible to get rid of the junk so that it’s always a light as it can be!

No. You can trade off if you really think so but I have never ever heard this.

I’m not sure but I don’t recommend it. your shoulder will kill and it is really obnoxious so just go with a backpack…I’ve had experience! If you don’t have a ton of books though, then you can probably use a tote.

It is true. I have a friend who’s mom used to always carry her heavy purse on one shoulder only. It got so bad that she had to go to the doctor!

I think you’ll be fine as long as you switch the shoulder you carry your books on every week/or every other day.
I recently read in SHAPE magazine that you should switch the shoulder to help your posture– you don’t want to damage the shoulder with so much continual weight.

It could possibly cause problems, especially later on. I suggest you stick with backpacks, just because they’re better for your back. Besides, they’re cool, too.
