plastic bags use too much oil and paper bags waste a lot of paper, so if you use tote bags, especially from recycled materials, you’ll save trees and oil.

You will save trees used for making paper bags and other materials and energy sources used to make the plastic bags. You will also cut down on the amount of material you will be throwing away. A good, easy change to make a difference…Mother Nature will be grateful!

Tote bags are re-usable. You can use them over and over again, wash them, and use them for years! Unlike, plastic bags which require petroleum to manufacture, and can’t be used more than a few times. Unlike paper bags, which require trees for manufacture, and can’t be used more than a few times.
THANKS for doing your part to save our fragile environment! -RKO- 09/02/07

Tote bags do help but you can also just re-use the bags you already have and save the environmental expense of making new tote bags.

BTW, I got my Free Tote Bag from Yahoo and it arrived in a PLASTIC BAG!

because instead of using plastic or paper bags, we’re using re-usable tote bags.

Not only are you reusing an item instead of using many items, you are reducing materials for making the disposable bags, reducing fuel use for production and transportaion of the disposable bags and you are reducing use of landfill space for disposing of the bags! that is just off the top of my head! So this small change has a large ripple effect. Another easy and similar change is switching to a reusable water bottle instead of purchasing bottled water each day.
