I usually use powder makeup but it is not covering. I haven’t used liquid in ages. Any suggestions of what I can buy at a drug store that will give me great coverage but not look too heavy?
I already use bare minerals.

Use some green tinted concealer under your foundation. The green effectively neutralizes the redness when you apply it well.

Physicians Formula makes a green concealer stick.

I know that Loreal mineral wear is great (the powder foundation), it is pure mineral, however, I would go to the Clinique counter and get some of the creme they sell there especially for reddened/irritated skin, and get a good foundation, you can get away with using drug store makeup for everything else, but a good foundation will really help with your skin care.

You want to use a powder foundation that will “correct” or bring down the red tones in your skin. Give MAC a try.

If you have normal to dry skin, MAC Studio Tech is terrific. And if you have oily or combination skin, MAC Studio Fix is great. The MAC foundations are great because they are formulated to work very well with the red and yellow undertones that we all have.

Avoid any foundations that are too “red.” You need something to tone the red tones down for you.

    Good luck!

I know you said drugstore, but I really love MAC Studio Fix Fluid (the liquid one) because it is buildable. I have rosacea and it works so well, because you can build up the coverage only where you need it. I had a dermatologist tell me how beautiful my skin was and she was very surprised when I took off my makeup to see what lurked beneath. If I am really read, I will put Studio Fix Powder foundation over the liquid foundation to keep things under control.

At the drugstore, check out Physician’s Formula Conceal RX it can cover anything!

Don’t use green concealer, it can give your skin a very weird greeny cast, use a yellow one in stead, it is much more natural. You can probably get away with the more natural tones of the physician’s formula one.

I have had luck with Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation and setting that with the Cover Girl Powder.

I also like to use a green tint first, if necessary and a bronzing powder when I have finished.

    Good luck!

really the best thing for red skin (i know, I got that rosacea crap) is green.

I used the physicians formula compacts that is green to cover up the red. OR you can use the smashbox primer. They have a green colored one to reduce the redness, plus since it is a primer it helps stay on alllll day.

the physicians formula looks exactly like this, but it is green:

    good luck!!!!! hope that helps

I have the same problem, but I use maybellen dream mate mousse. It’s very selective & it’s very soft. But everybody’s skin is different. So if it doesnt work you just have to try different lotions, foundations, powders. And maybe you should get some different face washes. For me also, I use lotion on my face & especially my forehead, before I put on any make up.

Since green is the opposite color from red in the color chart, you should use green to counter-act the red. You could try using a green tinted moisturizer under your bare minerals. Or a green tinted primer.
