What is a reasonable age for girls to wear makeup?12 replies

My little 12 year old sister wants to start to wear makeup like lipstick,mascara,eye shadow,blush, and all of those but I think she is too young. I started to wear makeup when I was 14 but it was only like blush or something.I started to wear makeup makeup (and yes i meant to put it twice) when I was 15 almost 16. HELP!

   i started a few months before i turned 13. i think at 12, DEFINITELY NO LIPSTICK. she can wear mascara, eyeshadow, and lip GLOSS. stay away from the eyeliner till you can use it without looking like a clown though. oh and blush is fine.

   I started wearing eyeliner and blusher when I was about 13.. Then the full works when I was about 14/15….
   I think it dosnt really matter! As long as she isnt piling it on and making herself look tarty!

   well, I started when I was 13, and used more when I was 14, so i think it’d be okay for her to try some? nothing too drastic tho.

   When my little sister wants to wear lots of makeup to school I will show her some ways to wear makeup really lightly and pretty. Another thing you can do that may work, is you can also give her a makeover (not to wear to school, just on a weekend) and my sister thinks is pretty but then gets tired of it and moves on. hope I could help

   I think if you wear makeup too young you can look too old for your age. I think that 15 or 16 is good. I was about 16 when I started wearing makeup. Now every kid is wearing makeup. Tell her to enjoy not feeling obligated to wear makeup because once you start wearing it you will feel like you have to.

   If she is too young, she should use a natural look where you can barely know she’s wearing make-up. These are the things she should use: light eye shadow, light blush, a color of mascara that matches her eye lashes, and make sure that there is no lip stick, or eye liner. I would feel like that but I’m doing the right.

   12 is too young for full face make-up. Just tell her to wear eyeliner and clear mascara. Lip gloss or chapstick. And when she turns 14 let her start wearing blush and a little bit of eye-shadow and by the time she is 16 let her wear foundation and powder.

   Have her wear natural colors, like browns and blacks. You don’t want her to wear bright colors, cause that will give off a bad message.

    Well, I think 12 is a good time to start the basics. But, if she wants to wear the bigger stuff, try and help her learn what’s enough, and what’s to much, so she can look good when she does wear it =] -Grace

    you should tell her to wait at least a year. but no mascara or eye liner till 14. next year she should only wear lip gloss and eye shadow mabie blush.

    12 is way too young. I personally think 15 is a good age to start wearing all types of makeup and experimenting.
