I’m going to be starting a professional makeup course soon, and would like to know what kind of makeup supplies I should start stocking up on? I’m really interested what type of base cosmetics such as foundation and concealers I should get?

Do your course first. Do not buy anything prior, out of curiosity or peer pressure. You need to save up money for the things you need for the course. Along the way, you will discover lots more thing, and money that you had saved, will come in handy in choosing the right products that will help you start off the career later.

From what you had written, you do not seem to have any experience in this business.

If you are not taking any course, please look around and visit cosmetics counters for reference. BUT never buy on impulse. Do your homework first.

There are customers who are also sensitive to some things. So you should never buy only what you fancy.

You should also strategize your business plans and see if there are other things you need to think of aside makeup only.

Also your clientele base, depends on which country you are in, the majority of the customers are light-toned or dark-toned, that will form your make-up kit. Also Asians have varying skin tones, from their race.

Your makeup course should be able to advise you in advance of the course.

Once you’ve done the course, get as much good kit and as large a portfolio achieved as you can, then try to hook up with an agencey.
