Looking for makeup tips for a brunette who works outside?5 replies

I work outside up to 8 hours a day in a humid, almost perpetual summer environment. I have very oily skin. I tan easily but rarely burn (except my face; it burns easily).

The tanned parts of my skin are a bronzy, almost yellowy color, while the non-tanned parts are pale.

Does anyone have any tips on what brands of makeup, and what color schemes, I should be using?

I’m like you, i tan easily and rarely burn and also a brunette. If you have oily skin, you can try a powder or shine paper to reduce the shine. Stick to naturals, such as bronze, nudes, golds and greens (I’m assuming you have brown eyes) in the evening, when going out.

Make-up at work- Because you work in a humid environment, make-up can easily run so look for staying power (some powders reduce shine for 8 hours). Mascara should be waterproof as you don’t want it to run. I recommend just a good SPF or tinted moisturizer, some shine control powder (try max factor and boujour, use rimmel stay matte if your on a tight budget) and lip balm with also SPF as it is only work and not an evening out.

I work outside too (camp counselor!), and since it’s so hot and humid, you really have to cut back your routine for the summer. Typically what I do is skip foundation / concealer because it’ll either just melt and clog my pores or I’ll sweat it off. I skip blush in the summer too because, like I said, I’d probably sweat it off, and when it’s hot out you have rosy cheeks anyway. I use Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara in waterproof, and I have a Maybelline cool effects shadow / liner pencil as eye liner and after that I’m done. For brunette hair I’d go with a black mascara, and since you’re tan it’ll bring out your complexion if you use a dark gold or copper brown thick eye liner pencil.

Since you work outside and it’s so hot, that’s all I’d use for work. If your skin is oily, it helps to control it by using a toner and moisturizer after you wash your face in the morning, before you put on makeup. As for toners, clinique’s work really well and at the makeup counter, they’ll match what kind you need with your skin type. If you’re not going to use as much makeup, it’s important to embrace your natural skin!

i think you need some really nice creams, browns and bronze colours in your make up kit. brunettes when they wear natural colour on there skin look naturally beautiful, what i really mean is it helps high light the hair colour and brightens up the face.

and too many bold colours in the day time out doors says ‘i spent ages doing my make up today!!’

I like the last 2(girls) answers they have some good advice, if you want to wear foundation I definitely reccommend bare minerals, or also they have alot of drugstore mineral foundations, they don’t sweat off, & look really natural. I would not reccommeng Maybelline great lash mascara I just bought some & It’s always flaking all over the place. For lipstick I would definitely go for a “Lip Stain” it stains your lips so you won’t have to reapply, just throw some lipbalm (burt’s bee’s is best) over it. Good Luck!
