How to wear makeup if you have sensitive eyes?8 replies

After years of avoiding it, I’ve started wearing makeup, mainly to cover up the dark circles under my eyes. However, it makes my eyes watery and red, which seems to only accentuate my dark circles and puffiness. Any advice?

Use eye drops that soothe the eyes.
Use a mascara for sensitive eyes ( go to a drugstore and ask and they can point you in the right direction )
To reduce the darkness use a concealer with a yellow base this will cover up the darkness, There are a lot of concealers for sensitive skin, :o )
Try to avoid getting it in the eye, or too close to the lashes,
When using concealer ( i suggest you use the concealer in a lipstick shaped tube ) do 3 dots under your eye and then blend together [patting it on with your ring finger - this is the lightest finger and will evenly spread it] do not apply concealer to the eye lid, if you have darkness between the eyes and the nose use a small brush or use your pinky finger to blend between that area.
You could also buy a clear mascara that will soothe your eyelashes and make them stronger instead of wearing black mascara.
If your using eyeliner, make sure its new and fresh. Keep it reasonably sharp and use it lightly :)

Try Physician’s Formula makeup……. it’s hypoallergenic, and buy new every month!

Don’t wear make-up, honey. Better avoid the dark circles by drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep. It’s better for your health anyway!

Go to a Mary Kay beauty consultant…..if you don’t know of any just go to and at the top of the screen it says “look for an independent beauty consultant”…they have a special moisturizer that helps that……you don’t need makeup, you just need a gentle moisturizer that helps firm that area, and helps take away the darkness.

OK, you should put some petroleum Jelly instead of covering the dark circles or put it before applying the eyeshadow.
