I’ve thought about wearing makeup to look more mature, put together, and enhance my features.

Well, i started out by looking in different magazines and even celebrity style websites just to get an idea of what looks i was comfortable wearing. I prefer the natural look most days but you can add more to my routine to look more made up when needed.

    1. Start with a clean, moisturized face. Using a triangle makeup sponge, apply tinted moisturizer all over the face. Make sure to blend well around the hair- and jawline. I like tinted moisturizer because it gives your skin a pretty finish but still looks pretty natural(also, it usually contains SPF, which is always good to wear). I recommend Clinique’s Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15, $27 at department stores. It’s pricey but doesnt irritate the skin or look unnatural.
    2. If there are any visible blemishes, dab on a concealer and blend lightly. Recommended: Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer, available at drugstores
    3. Using a big, fluffy powder brush, lightly dust on some powder to ‘set’ your face makeup. I prefer Maybelline’s Dream Matte Pressed Powder and the Total Face Brush from e.l.f.(but the Sonia Kashuk brushes at Target are good as well, just a little more expensive).
    4. Now, i’m not sure what color your eyes are or what your skintone is like, but I tried to make an eye makeup routine that works for everyone. Line your eyes with black liner, starting at the inner corner and tracing your way out on the upper lid. When lining the lower lids, try to start from the middle going out then just lightly smudge the line to the inner corners using a q-tip. This helps to make it look more natural so the line isnt as defined. I use Prestige Automatic Waterproof Eyeliner in Charcoal.
    5. Using an eyeshadow brush, apply eyshadow in a shimmery champagne shade up to the browbone. Next, apply a medium brown shade up to the crease, blending the shadows together at the crease for a natural finish. If desired, smudge any dark shade of eyeshadow(whether it be black, purple, brown, etc… or not) as close to the lashline as possible, with emphasis on the outer corners. Make sure to blend the shadows! I dont have any particular brand of shadows, but I do use NYX and Smashbox more often.
6, Curl lashes and apply two coats of mascara to the top lashes. If you wish to apply to the lower lashes, only do one coat as it tends to smudge more often. Try CoverGirl’s Lashblast Mascara.
    7. Apply a lipbalm to prep lips for gloss and keep both the balm and gloss with you. After applying the gloss, you should be good to go. I prefer Softlips in Cherry and Smashbox gloss in Glitz.

I’m not sure if that’s what you were looking for, but basically just do what you have time for in the mornings. Look at magazine articles(Seventeen has the best in my opinion) and search on YouTube or Google for makeup routines. Remember that the more you wear and the heavier it gets, the less mature you tend to look.

I suggest that you go to the makeup counter at your local department store. Explain to the sales person what you are looking for and how much time you have for a makeup routine.

A knowledgeable makeup artist can teach you the right makeup routine for you and your time.
