How do I stop spending so much money on makeup?6 replies

I have been buying alot of makeup lately, I love shadows and lipsticks. I think I actually buy more than I wear. Lately I have been buying more of the MAC shadows and lipsticks, things a few months ago I would have never paid 16 bucks or even 20 bucks for. How can I train myself to stay off ebay and out of the stores and realize that enough is enough? I dont even wear lot of makeup, I just love buying it.
I mean I make a decent salary. I do have bills but I have been splurging alot lately and I am starting to feel bad about these purchases.

You know mabey you should use the make up you have instead of buying more because make up does go bad after a while.. When you are a the store on line tell your self you have enough or is the make up worth it.

I was that way too. If you’re buying more than you’re wearing, especially eye and lip makeup, you need to get into your head that these go bad in a few months. If you buy, wear it once, then let it sit for 6 mos, it’s not safe to wear anymore. It’s like throwing money in the trash. You just need to not make impulse pruchases, maybe set aside a makeup budget for each month. If visualizing helps you, put…say….$40 in a jar each month for makeup. Only use that cash to buy it. Before you buy any ask yourself if you’ll really use it, if it is too similar to something else you have, etc.

Set up A savings account that you don’t intend on touching with the extra money you have put in to it automatically. If you don’t see it you won’t spend it (I had similar trouble and this helps). Also remember you don’t need makeup it looks unnatural and some are bad for your skin in the long run.Good luck hope this helped.

i did the same a few months ago and spent loads of my money on new makeup … i found the best thing to stop me doing this was to go through all the makup i had and sort out what i used and what i didnt, i sold some of the bits i knew i would never use , or things i had two shades of and the rest of the stuff i would just use up. i found that when i looked through what i had, i had most colours in different shades already so when i saw makeup i wanted to buy i remember i had a similar shade at home. i then decided that cheaper makeup can be just as good and bought things that werent as expensive as what i used to go for. hope my experince helps you :D
