I am 17, I have been staying up late for the past couple of months but also have been sleeping in.. (since its summer). I don’t know why but I actually have more bags now. If I sleep earlier will the bags gradually reduce and disappear? Or am i stuck with them forever?

    Sleeping for over 8 hours a night can give you bags. Are you sure that your not getting too much sleep? Also, even though your young- think of buying some eye cream for bags and make up to cover it up. I know people who just have bags under their eyes all the time-hopefully yours will go away. Try getting to bed at a reasonable hour and getting up after 8.

    You’re too young for bags under your eyes…try applying something cool to the eyes, they say cucumber slices are good, and stop rubbing them.

    Try puting a cold washcloth or cold cucumber slice on your eyes for 5 or 10 minutes when you wake up. You might also try drinking more water to help flush your body of some extra fluid and waste.
    The thing that I swear by is All About Eyes by Clinique. It works wonders and you should start using an eye cream at your age anyway, the eye area is the first place that we start to see lines and wrinkles.

    Edited to add: You can leave the All About Eyes in the fridge, it works even better when its cold.
    And here is some additional info for you.

    Puffy eyes can be caused by many factors. These include fluid retention, stress, allergies, hormone changes, and other factors as well. When we cry, it is often accompanied by swollen eyes. This is due to the fact that are body reacts to emotions and causes more blood to flow through the eyes which leads to swelling. Also the production of too many emotional tears can strain the eyes. Also, we get puffy eyes after sleeping. This can be caused by different factors such as too much sodium in a diet causing water retention, tossing and turning and not getting enough sleep, excessive drinking of alcohol, and others as well.

    Puffy Eyes Treatments and Home Remedies

    For normal puffy eyes that is not caused by other eye conditions, there are many ways to get rid of puffy eyes. The following list is only a few of the remedies and may not work for everyone.

    * Wash face with ice cold water
    * Limit sodium intake
    * Drink plenty of water to clean out your system
    * Place two slices of cool cucumber on the eyes for several minutes
    * Moisten two tea bags in cold water, chill them in the refrigerator and place them over closed eyelids for several minutes
    * For allergies and puffy eyes, find out the item causing the allergic reaction and minimize its use; doctors may also provide medication in the form of shots or prescription drugs
    * Cream for puffy eyes – Try a soothing eye cream with aloe and Vitamin E, or caffine and green tea which can be applied to the eyes

    First try elevating your Head as much as you can tolerate when you sleep, you don’t want fluid to accumulate under your eyes while you lie flat. Also try having a bit of caffeine in the AM ( not tons ) it is a diuretic, also you could drink water with lemon in it. Splash your face with the coldest water possible right when you wake up. If these things don’t work you may just be predisposed to bags and have extra fat pads under your eyes. If it really bothers you or gets progressively worse then consult a dermatologist or occuplast. Best of luck.
