I live in Toronto and compost is now collected in green bins. However, plastic bags are allowed to be included. What is the exact method of processing this waste? Is it really sorted the way it should be?

I believe they can be recycled(not composted) to make furniture and containers.

Plastic bags don’t break down and de-compose therefore there is no use putting them in the green bins.
I just visited a recycling plant actually and I learned the whole process. It is completely complicated but it is sorted the way it should be, the sort everything out, like the plastic bags go with plastic bags, carboard with cardboard… etc. They sort it and compact it into large rectangular “lumps” and then weigh them out, most around 900-1700 pounds. We live in Hawaii so we have to do that and then ship it over the the mainland to be re-made because their are no processing plants here.

if someone notices, i think it would be removed but if not, they might stay there.
