I am sure that there must be thousands of things that stores try to sell and they never sell at all!
I have always wondered about this…I was thinking..it would be awesome ,if they sold them to other countries..to people who truly, truly needed the clothing..and other necessities!!
But, I don’t know what they “really” do, with these items..anybody know?

thanks!

Well sometimes, they send it to stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx and sometimes they donate it to thrift stores.

Most of the things they give them are sometimes out of season.

They also send it back to the manufacturer, and it can be sold online.

Well i know that at DSW they just put it on clearance, and keep it there until its sold, they really dont care how long it takes to sell, so maybe others do the same.

When something doesn’t sell, there are three options that stores take

    1) return to mfg (this is where the stuff at Marshalls and Big Lots comes from)

    2) donate to local charities

    3) put in compactor, and send to landfill….

If the store has an outlet they will go there, most likely the store doesnt own the clothes but the company does, so if it doesnt sell they send it back to the company.

sometimes they end up at stores like marshalls and tj maxx
