Is there a green alternative to plastic sandwich bags?4 replies

I take my lunch to work almost everyday. On average I use almost 10 plastic sandwich bags a week.

Is there another product out there I should be using? Or is there a green alternative?

I reuse the bags when I can, but I still feel guilty for throwing so many away.

They have plastic containers you can buy that hold a sandwich or 2 that are shaped like a sandwich available at walmart or where ever. They are not the disposable kind , just have to wash them.

Also available are glass containers made for food storage. They are a little bit more expensive, but they last much longer than plastic and you don’t have to worry about chemicals leaching into your food! Yum! I found mine at Canadian Tire, but I know this website isn’t strictly Canadian so try looking around!

    Try bio-degradable paper bags.

I avoid plastic as much as possible, the one exception is when I need and unbreakable alternative to disposable. Tupperware has a great container that is the perfect size for a sandwich. I’ll also put a few links to other zero waste lunch options.

The last link is probably what you are looking for they are called a wrap and go mat.
