How long do you use tea bags?9 replies

Because we SHOULD reuse tea bags, but for how long? I’ve been using one for two days now. Is that bad? I might have used some for longer before. Advice!

   I might seem wasteful but I use them for 1 day at the most. The main reason is after one day it loses it’s flavour. And it kinda smells- milk tea.

   well, most avid tea drinkers wouldnt reuse tea bags, or loose tea because it tends to become bitter. If you do reuse tea bags I would only do so once within a 2 hour period. Otherwise I would worry about bacteria etc. because of course tea is never steeped with boiling water.

   if you want to squeeze every last bit out of a 10-15 cent tea bag, then that’s your prerogative. Just realize you won’t get the health benefits after the first steep, and you might as well just heat up some water and drink it.

   as a tea lover, i use one teabag a cup. sometimes i reuse the teabag, but i reuse the teabag only once–the taste isn’t as strong and fresh as the first time.

   some teabags have lots of tea leaves while others have lesser. those with a lot i will reuse. those with lesser i use only once. also if i drink milk tea, i tend not to reuse my teabag. and if i buy organic tea, i tend to reuse the teabag because it is more costly

   i suggest you just reuse your teabags once. reusing it is not bad, it’s just that the taste gets “watered down” each time it’s blanched in hot water. if you’re on a tight budget, go ahead and reuse. if you’re not but just want to use teabags to their fullest, you can reuse it as long as you don’t mind the mildness of the tea the second round. actually reusing teabags is all up to you–if you want it, do it. if you don’t want, throw it. just that once you reuse once, most of the tea’s essence has already gone so you may be drinking some tasteless tea…
