My daughter needs her hair curled in real pretty, tight, corkscrew curls. I’ve been told that a good way is with strips of brown paper bags.I believe it was done like this a long time ago.

yeah…but thats pretty welfare if you ask me.
Sounds like rag curls. You might have better luck that way, cutting strips of cloth, rolling hair up and then tying the ends of the cloth together.? I always got super tight curls with those pink spongy rollers!
