Well, for starters they usually come with a certificate of authenticity. The stitching is always in place with no loose threads, and there should be a sewed on label inside the bag with a stamp of the brand and a little number underneath.

You have to know what counterfeiters are targeting. They aim for highly visible designer bags that are recognized worldwide such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Prada, Hermes, etc. They will not waste time replicating handbag brands that are not well known around the world. Oroton, despite that they are well crafted bags, are not targets of counterfeiters.

You have to educate your self on the brand name. Preferably, you need to see an authentic designer bag in person and study the stiching, materials used and how they are priced.
