How can I be sure a coach handbag is authentic?16 replies

I am wanting to get my mother a coach handbag for her birthday. I don’t really want to pay full retail but I’m a little fearful that I might not get authentic coach if I use ebay or another bargain route. Can you tell me how to be 100% certain I’ve gotten an authentic coach bag?

Get it from coach.com or a coach outlet to be 100% sure. It’s risky getting it from ebay and the like…unless they offer to give you their original purchase receipt.

I would make that kind of purchase from a reputable store myself.

Usually when you buy a real designer bag they come with papers of authentication.

i bought my wife one at the outlet mall and the zipper broke. then i got her one on Canal Street in New York for about $30.00 i think. and it was better made. She still has it.

Mines have gold writing in the inside on a red lable and I also brought mines from the coach store, so of course it’s real, but since you buying off of ebay try this:http://www.ehow.com/how_2044771_identify-authentic-coach-handbag.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art

Most name brand bags have authenticity cards in them…. The pricier bags of course. Go online and read up on Coach bags for extra detail on what their products contain and how t tell the difference between the real thing and a copy.

if it’s authentic the C’s on the bag will be connected if not its not real… or on the inside there will be a metal plaque with the company on it … or it would usually come with paperwork and a certificate of authenticity if you dont buy it from Coach.. just go to the website, find the one you bought, and compare the two purses..

    i hope that helped

Hello. It’s very difficult to know an authentic bag just from a picture alone. But here’s a a tip if you are thinking about getting one online. Ebay is likely the ONLY place online you will get an authentic bag. All of those “wholesale” houses and such you see are fakes. Coach does not “wholesale” to anyone except designated, approved botiques and stores and NONE of them are online. You may find an occassional blog where an individual is selling a few authentic bags but your choices will be so limited.

Ebay really is a great place. You just have to be careful. The good guys far outnumber the bad on that site. Here’s a link to a “Spotting Fake Coach on Ebay” book. Even if you don’t buy the book there’s a sign up form that will give you free tips on spotting fakes…pretty good stuff! Hope that helps!
