http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTHENTIC-MARC-JACOBS-PETROL-BLUE-STAM-BAG_W0QQitemZ270179482078QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270179482078 Is this bag authentic? Cause’ i’ve been to norstrom and the hardware is shiny golden and really polished, and the inside is NOT burgundy, its actually beige. But i’ve seen a lot of “authentic” bags on ebay and 90% of them had burgundy on the inside. So my 2 questions are… is the lining on an actual authentic bag burgundy?? And is the hardware kind of blurry and has a matte finish , or is it really really shiny?? I just thought that mayber it is a older model, and maybe its supposed to look like that? thanks

You should check if it comes with a certificate of authencation. If it does it is most likely real.

You know I seriously would not trust buying “authentic” handbags through ebay, you never know and you are spending money on it, so your best bet is to shop for a handbag in an outlet instead of ebay.

does it really matter if it is authentic or not? if you like the bag, and its reasonably priced, buy it. people are too hung up on designer labels and forget about what they really like. so thats my suggestion…if you like it and can afford it, buy it!

I think it’s real. I work in a retail store and I’ve noticed the more “out there” a purse looks like, the more expensive it is.

it doesn’t mention ANYTHING about a letter of authenticity, and if i were you, I’d ask. the seller tells you to ask questions, so do it. personally, it’s a dark blue ugly bag, and i wouldn’t pay that much money for it. but that’s just me. i don’t buy from ebay.

PS- i just read the buyers comments. everyone seems to love the bags, but i still don’t know…it’s up to you.

I’d say it’s a fake. Here is the link to Marc Jacobs’ website with his REAL bags.

Click on “Marc Jacobs Collections” then “Bags” then “Resort 2007 Womens” and the bag you are questioning is called the STAM bag.

You can see that the stitching on the quilting is a different color from the one one eBay and the metal finish on the authentic bag is shiney and not dull and brassy like the fake on eBay.

If you want a cheap knock-off, that ebay one isn’t bad, but don’t let them fool you into thinking it’s real Marc Jacobs.

Marc Jacob’s handbags are only sold at the MJ Boutique’s and fine department stores like Nordstrom, Sacs, Neiman’s Barney’s etc. If you ever see an auction that says blowout or overstock, that should be your first clue that you are about to bid on a counterfeit handbag. If you want authentic, then DON’T BID ON THAT HANDBAG! 3. The STAM, BLAKE AND VENETIA bags are the most common sold fakes. -Marc Jacob bags were not sold in colors like BRIGHT pink, yellow or BRIGHT turquoise leather. He is much more classic then that. -The insides of most bags are usually a tan linen or tan suede inside. A few bags do have colors in them. -The black, tan, or taupe Venetia bags are NOT red suede inside. It should be tan linen. The Black Stam is tan suede inside, not red!

I don’t understand the point of expensive handbags.
They aren’t nearly as fun and beautiful as clothing.
You can find plenty of sturdy things to carry your crap around cheaply. Once you get where you’re going, just stow the bag somewhere.
