They’re for flies. Its a fly bag or fly catcher or something. The bag is filled with a liquid that attracts them then they falll in and it kinda closes and they can get out ans sometimes they die. you can find it at homedepot or any store that has pesticides.

This is a Jap Beadle or something like that, they lay grubs under the lawn sod, that is what Moles like to eat,

Those bags are japanese beetle traps and are beyond worthless. They actually draw the beetles into the yard with them so you end up with more than you started with. Many will be caught but many more will go for your plants instead.

There are a number of different kinds of insect traps like the ones you describe. I’ve never used the ones for Japanese beetles, but the ones for flies and the ones for yellow jacket wasps are very effective. All the traps work on the concept of an attractant specific to the insects you wish to catch inside the bag, and you add water to it and hang it from a tree or fence. The insects fly in through small holes and can’t get back out. You can buy them at feed stores and home & yard stores like Home Depot. One warning about the ones for flies: They do have an unpleasant smell, so hang them a distance from the house. And have someone who is not allergic set up the yellow jacket traps, because we have had them come buzzing around before we were even done hanging the trap!
I really like the traps, because there are no poisons involved and they target only the specific insects you are trying to kill.
