Alternatives to static proof bags for transporting a hard drive?2 replies

Question says it all. Need to take 2 hd plus a cdrom to the homestead, but am without static proof bags.

    a zip Lock bag worked for me kept all the dust and static off

    As the other guy mentioned, ziplock bags should work or another thick plastic bag. If you also need good padding (to pack), I suggest purchasing large car wash sponges in rectangular shape, then cut it like you are making a sandwich and place the drive in ziplock bag inside then tape the cut like to secure it.

    Or purchase bubble wraps which does both, alternative is purchasing 3xPack 6″ by 9″ envelopes (for HD it is big enough) with bubble wrap on the inside which also works great and inexpensive too.
