Why does my mother always has thoughts about women who are into fashion ?4 replies

I’m about 20 years old and i had a chance to talk to my mother the other day about me finding my future wife, my mother always has these thoughts about women who are into fashion. She thinks that women who wears high heels shoes or high heels pumps will always go cheating behind my back, to which i really don’t believe that is true. Why does my mother always has these thoughts about women who wear high heels ? My mother is asian she is vietnamese and she never wears high heels. I’m really confused and i don’t know if she is right or wrong, can anyone please tell me if she is right or wrong ?

   It’s just old stereotypes, asian mothers (I have one) are usually very stubborn when it comes to their son’s wives, they want the best wife for their son so if anything seems fishy, like high heels, they automatically attack it.

   Back when she was growing up, high heels were associated with escorts and prostitutes because they attracted men. Those stereotypes are still carried with her along with other ones…

   She is very wrong, I think it is definitely her cultural values (I have asian parents too and they have very different values to mine) Females like to feel good about themselves, hence the make up, the heels, the clothing. They dress to impress both females and males, so they can feel GOOD about themselves, not to go out of their way to cheat on someone…

   it’s a stereotype from older generations.
   my family is european and my grandma would bash my head in if i over-dressed. but nowadays, a lot of people judge by looks, especially employers. we have to look good.
   fashion wasn’t as important a while ago.
