From my knowledge, a high fashion model possesses more exotic or out of the ordinary features, while a commercial model has more of an all American traditional, pretty, mainstream appearance.

yeah you’ve just about got the gist of it. i watch a LOT of americas next top model.
high fashion has more exotic features and exaggerated body poses. they dont smile as much in their photos.
commercial has that traditional look and friendly, sweet poses. and they smile. a LOT.
