Hit the modeling agencies in South Beach, Miami, if you just want a general idea. You can e-mail them or call them from NYC. I can tell you offhand there are dozens of different types of fashion shows and events throughout the year, in South Florida.
I suggest you look for a job before you leave. I am sure you know the fashion industry can be catty and if you don’t have a job or contacts before you get there it will be very difficult. Miami is becoming a major fashion center. Look for designers who are in Miami and Palm Beach because if they have stores, thry have offices. Versace has a development office there and you could look with them. Try Womens Wear daily for postings.
