I thought the field that I was suppose to go in was fashion merchandise or fashion design, but that’s not the right field. I need to be sent in the right direction.

It’s a lot easier to get into fashion merchandising or design than becoming a modeling agent. Most agents have been with agencies for over 15-20 years, so the only way to become an agent is to work your way up to assistant to an agent, then hope that one may either retire or move to a new agency and you can move your way up. Also, there is no specific school or field of study to become an agent – it’s really about knowing the right people to get your foot into the agency in the first place – as an unpaid intern, receptionist or admin, then try to work your way up.
The only way I got to work for an agency in NY is because a friend of the family worked there and I was able to start out as an unpaid intern
