I am only 13 years old but I’ve been fashion designing since I was 9.My problem is that I can only sketch and not stitch.I could have got it stitched from someone but I don’t have enough resources like fabric or advanced equipment.
I have searched the net for contests that want only sketches but they are either over or for select places which does not include my country.People who have seen my designs have appreciated them.
What do I do to be discovered or have my dresses stitched?
- I am doing a fashion project and was wondering, to get a head start, what would i have to include?
- What are some interesting facts about fashion photography?
- Does anybody know a fashion website to find a job in fashion industry?
- Is there a fashion designer to send my designs to?
- What is a good alternative ranking system for a fashion show?

well talk to your mum or maybe your sewing teacher at school, they can teach you to sew then you can start making your designs, atm your a little young to be selling your design but try and get in contact with the ppl who run the competions and see if they have anything coming up or if they have any good contacts.
just work through school and goto uni and do design later this will give you an advantage over most designers
good luck
EVERY Fashion Designer needs to be able to sew their garments themselves. Being able to make what you can think up is very important, because once you have this down, you actually understand how the body works. Fashion designing isnt just drawing. Its a lot of other things as well. You need to understand the body, so yo can design better. These two things compliment each other. Its why its a very integral part of any fashion design curriculum in schools.
You are very young, and not to doubt your ability, but unless you are a prodigy, your sketches have a LOT of room for improvement.
do they look like any of these?:
If they dont, youve got to keep working. Fashion Designing isnt the easiet thing in the world, it takes a long time to develop ideas and be consistent. Is there a theme in your designs? Something distinct perhaps? When people see your sketches, do they see in your design something they dont see in others? Those are the questions you have to address.
And talk to your parents, maybe if they see that you are serious about learning, they will invest in a sewing machine for you. And then you just have to practice and practice and practice. Start turning your sketches into clothing that actually exists in this world and not just on paper.
So, I wish you the best of luck,
