I have been wanting to be a fashion designer for ages, and I draw couture gowns and high fashion outfits all the time and I really really think my designs have a lot of international potential. But the problem is that I can’t sew. I am taking art in high school right now and want to work on designing but now that I started thinking – will any really good design colleges accept me if I don’t know how to sew? Is it manditory?

In the ones I’m familiar with, you either need to know how to sew to factory standards or better coming in, or you will be placed in sewing classes.
It’s really easy to design un-sewable garments (and sometimes garments that cannot be built at all) if you don’t understand basic sewing and textile construction.
